Introduced earlier this month, the Audi Urbansphere is the latest model in a long line of new Audi “sphere” concepts that preview the future of Audi vehicles. The Urbansphere is a prototype designed for urban mobility and features technologies and characteristics that will be appreciated by anyone who uses their vehicle in the city or in a crowded environment. This is a very spacious, very versatile electric vehicle with some very advanced technology.
Measuring 5.51 metres in length and over 2 metres in width, the new Audi Urbansphere has essentially the same footprint as an Audi Q7 SUV. And with 3.40 metres between the wheels, there is a lot of interior space for passengers. The interior of the Audi Urbansphere features 4 seats which can swivel so the passengers and front occupants can face each other. The Audi Urbansphere also offers some pretty advanced comfort features such as seats that can incline 60° and legrests which extend so that you can relax while you watch a movie. A movie, or you can use the available VR headsets to escape into a new world while the Audi Urbansphere brings you to your real destination.
The Audi Urbansphere is indeed a level 4 autonomous vehicle. That means that it has the ability to drive itself and that's why you do not see a steering wheel or pedals. If you decide that you do want to drive your Audi Urbansphere yourself, you can engage the driving mode which pops out the steering wheel and the pedals so that you can take control.
The Audi Urbansphere is built on the Premium Platform Electric architecture which was designed exclusively for electric vehicles. Powering the dual electric motor setup is a 120-kWh flat battery pack which should lead to 750 km of range. There is over 400 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque in the Audi Urbansphere. There is also a rear wheel steering and an air suspension to ensure optimal comfort.
The all-new Audi Urbansphere is a concept, but it previews some pretty impressive technology coming down the road from Audi. Give us a call today to learn more about Audi electric vehicles and models coming later on.
