Audi vehicles are some of the safest on Canadian roads due to their high level of engineering, but also due to their numerous advanced active and passive safety features. Here are some of the most impressive.

Audi pre sense

Every 2023 Audi models come standard with some form of the pre sense safety system which helps prevent accidents or at least reduce their impact. The basic function of this system is to detect situations where the risk of collision is high and then prepare the vehicle in order to better protect the occupants. This is why the system closes the windows and the panoramic sunroof in addition to tightening the seatbelts before an impact. More advanced versions found on upper trim levels also help prevent accidents by applying the brakes automatically. In some models equipped with the active air suspension, the pre sense system also makes the occupants safer by raising the side of the vehicle that is about to be hit so that the brunt of the impact is taken by the sill rather than the door.

Audi Side Assist with Exit Warning

Most Audi vehicles are equipped with the Side Assist system, which monitors the blind spot area to alert the driver when a vehicle is coming up from behind. This helps prevent accidents on multi-lane roads or when other vehicles perform unsafe passing maneuvers. In addition to warning about potential dangers while driving, this system is also enhanced by the Exit Warning functionality on many models. This additional feature helps keep passengers safer by sounding a warning tone when a door is unlatched while a car or a bicycle is approaching from behind. This can help prevent injuries to cyclists and damage to the car by letting passengers know not to open the door until the danger has passed.

Audi Traffic Jam Assistant

Some Audi models feature the Traffic Jam Assistant, a technology that can help drivers navigate traffic jams and slow-moving situations safely and in a more relaxing way. This technology uses a camera and ultrasonic sensors to detect lane markings and other vehicles in order to maintain the distance set by the driver and the position within the lane. This allows the driver to relax by providing assistance with both the speed and the steering of the vehicle at speeds up to 60 km/h.
