The 2022 Audi A3 is the latest version of the smallest sedan from Audi. This model now benefits from many characteristics that are very uncommon in its market category.
An advanced powertrain
The 2022 Audi A3 receives a brand-new mild-hybrid system that is a first for this model. It is composed of a 2.0L turbocharged TFSI engine that delivers 201 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque and a small electric motor powered by a 48-volt battery. This system works by providing some additional power and torque when accelerating from a stop in order to make for smooth and quick starts. Once the vehicle is moving, the electric motor can adopt a torque-fill role that consists of boosting the torque of the engine at low speeds, when the turbocharger is not spooled up. This also makes for a smoother and stronger sensation in the driveline. The other function this system is able to provide is an engine-off coasting mode. In most situations, the gasoline engine is turned off completely when the driver releases the gas pedal, when coming to a stop or driving down a hill for example, in order to limit unnecessary fuel consumption to a minimum. The result of this technology is a compact sedan that is enjoyable to drive but also very efficient, since the average fuel consumption is only 8.5L/100km in the city and 6.6L/100km on the highway.
A whole suite of driver assistance systems
The 2022 Audi A3 is equipped with all of the active safety and driver assistance features that are expected from a premium sedan. For example, the Audi pre sense system is standard. This safety system detects an imminent collision and prepares the car in order to protect the passengers, by closing the windows and pretensioning the seat belts. Also standard is the lane departure warning system. The adaptive cruise control, the automated parking assist and the rear cross traffic alert are available to make driving and parking even easier.
