The 2022 Audi A4 benefits from a multitude of safety and engineering technologies that help prevent accidents and protect its occupants when they happen.

The pre sense systems

The 2022 Audi A4 is equipped with the pre sense rear and city systems as standard, with the pre sense forward being optional. The goal of all of these systems is to detect an impeding accident and take actions before it has happened in order to better protect the driver and the passengers. The rear system monitors the risk of a rear end collsion while the city and forward are very similar, except that the city system only works at relatively low speeds. The actions that can be taken by the system include closing the windows and the sunroof, moving the driver’s seat and pretensionning all of the seatbelts that are in use.

The rear cross-traffic alert

The 2022 Audi A4 is equipped to help you spot possible collisions that you can’t physically see from the driver’s seat. The rear cross-traffic alert uses sensors to peek around corners and sweep the area behind on each side of the vehicle. This is useful when backing out of a parking space between two large vehicles, since you can’t easily see other vehicles that are coming from either side. Even with the available 360-degree camera, the rear cross-traffic alert is an invaluable help for busy parking lots since its range of vision is much larger than the driver’s or even the camera’s.

The available rear side airbags

The 2022 Audi A4 can be fitted with rear side airbags, a device that is still very rare in the automotive industry despite its obvious advantages. The side air bag is used to protect the occupant’s head and torso in the event of a side collision. As in most cars, the curtain airbags are standard in the A4 and they keep the head of the driver and passengers form hitting a hard surface on the car, or even worse, making a violent contact with the vehicle that has hit the Audi. The available rear side airbags complement the curtain airbags by protecting the torso and arms of the passenger closest to the impact.
